Come and visit the Community Nursery where a wide range of local indigenous plants may be purchased at very affordable prices!
Much of the Nursery's stock goes toward revegetation projects. In aiming to preserve and cultivate indigenous plants for members of the public, and conservationists alike, the KES is able to promote the benefits of indigenous plants and gardens while funding its many projects.
KES have managed to replant many areas that have been cleared during urban development.
The nursery is located next to the Ferntree Gully
Library on Burwood Highway between Glenfern Road and Brenock Park Drive. The entrance road is opposite the Aldi supermarket.

A lily type plant with rigid, narrow greyish leaves. Male flowers are yellow with purple sepals in showy, densely whorled clusters.
Sundays 10am - 4pm.
Thursdays 10am - 4pm.
Excluding Christmas Day through till the end of January.

In 2006 retail nursery sales exceed 12,000 plants enabling us to make over $8000 of donations to the community. The nursery is increasingly specialises in selling rare plants as well as supporting the community in a range of other ways.

Indigenous plants are native plants of local origin.
There can be genetic differences in the same species around the country. Hence, as well as the
distinction between locally indigenous plants and other natives, there is also a need to distinguish
between local and non-local members of the same species.

All plants grown and sold by the Knox Environment Society are of local provenance. All propagation material is collected under permit number 1/70/99/14 and under strict guidelines to protect and preserve the genetic integrity of our indigenous flora.
