Nature Strip Plantings

Bringing Nature back into Nature strips!

With only 4% native vegetation or areas with indigenous plants left in Knox, and open space disappearing by the second as townhouses, units and apartment buildings springing up across the municipality, it is imperative that we take every opportunity to create new "natural" areas wherever we can!

Currently, Knox City Council does not encourage the planting of Nature Strips. "Generally the landscaping of nature strips by residents is not allowed however, residents may apply for approval from Landscape Services. "

Inspired by a Western Australian initiative: Go wild: Perth councils that pay you $500 to rip it up on your verge the KES will be designing and submitting a proposal to the council soon.
