The Spring Garden Party was a great success.
The Event and the calendar of offerings on the day enticed regulars and newcomers to the nursery and was a fundraising success too.
The weather was lovely, providing just enough sunshine to make it great to be outside. Visitors and volunteers alike were able to fully enjoy the beautiful music presented by our in-house group of musicians, The Flying Foxes. They were joined later by Jo Selleck, with recorder and flute, and students of Adrian Batt also performed on guitar.
There were various community groups to visit, including Friends groups, activities to join with, or shopping for plants. The native and indigenous gardening presentations and hanging basket planting activity were very popular and heavily supported, as was the presentation on home energy efficiency. Thank you to all involved.
There was also a lot of fun enjoyed throughout the day with the regular drawing of spot prizes and the free raffle of garden products on offer. Thank you to sponsors Fertool (Knoxfield), Seasol (Bayswater), Bunnings (Scoresby) for the garden products for prizes and the activity and Woolworths for the donation for the provisions for the refreshment sales. Thank you to the volunteers who also donated some spot prizes.
Events like the Spring Garden Party can only happen because of the great work and generous donation of time by KES volunteers. Thank you to all of you – those who came along and set up from 12noon to 5.30pm Friday afternoon, those volunteers that worked so hard and supported the event on the day; musicians, plant sales staff, children’s activity, bouquet preparation and sales, workshop presenters, refreshments provider, announcements and those involved in the pack up to name just a few.
And to cap it off we received so many donations of lovely native and indigenous flowers from volunteers' gardens for the bouquets – providing a lovely decorative entrance to our event and a successful sales item.
What a great team effort.
