About Starlight Reserve
Starlight Reserve has an interesting history. A section of the reserve was a prisoner of war camp during World War II and with 2,500 Italian prisoners captured in the middle east. Today the 3Ha of Council land is a reserve for nature conservation, a heritage site and playground space for families.
About Friends of Starlight Reserve
Our Friends group works to enhance the natural “green” corridors in the area. We also encourage neighbouring residents to plant local plants in their gardens. We work alongside Council team we would remove woody weeds, and endeavor to preserve, enhance and plant indigenous plants.
Our goal is to increase awareness of its value for the local and wider community, and highlight the history of the area over the ages, including of course pre-white settlement. Our goal is to acknowledge and consult with First Nations people.
